Weekday After-Work Ride #7 (B-pace) RESCHEDULED FROM THE RAINED-OUT RIDE ON AUGUST 24 IF YOU ARE A NEW RIDER JOINING US FOR YOUR VERY FIRST GROUP RIDE, PLEASE READ OUR CHECKLIST FOR NEW RIDERS HERE. After polling several of our fellow riders during our last Summer Streets 2010 ride, it turns out that Flushing Meadows Park makes a good meeting point for many of us. So for this ride we will be starting at the Queens Museum of Art plaza next to the Unisphere. Free parking is available at the Queens Museum of Art if you need to drive there. We will hit the big landmarks in Flushing Meadows Park (NYS Pavilion, Queens Zoo, USTA Tennis Center) before heading out to Kissena Park, then on to the Vanderbilt Parkway to Alley Pond Park before turning back. It will be a short ride (Approx. 12 miles or so) because daylight is now getting shorter as autumn approaches (it is now getting dark around 8PM). A nice, convenient short work-out after being cooped up at the office all day! As usual, rain or wet streets will cancel the ride. Just like last time, e-mail notices will be sent out a few hours before the scheduled ride time if Mother Nature decides not to cooperate.

Cuisine Arts Group Meetup Once a week the Cuisine Arts group gets together for lunch or dinner in a selected Manhattan restaurant to learn the basic elements of the culinary arts and restaurant management. If you've ever been interested in this exciting venue, here's an opportunity to hit the streets of New York City with an experienced New York restaurant professional. Michael served as a 2 stars New York Times Chef in several New York restaurants and successfully designed, managed and opened more than twenty five restaurants and catering facilities. Michael will help you explore and develop your skills in a small, friendly group setting at select restaurants around Manhattan. The workshop will be focused on the artistic elements of the culinary world, designing your own hospitality related web site, food photography, restaurant menu/concept development and the principles of restaurant management. The day will be packed with information and a hands-on cooking lesson to follow at the end of each session. Come join the fun and take part of the creative culinary process that set Cuisine Arts aside from other art forms. Check out my web sites... http://chefjob.net/aboutmichael.html http://www.cuisinearts.com/machere/about www.CuisineArts.com http://chefdot.com/ The workshops will be limited to the first 12 people who sign up, for a fee of $30.

Transportation Alternatives - NYC CENTURY BIKE TOUR Sunday, Sep. 12 (start very early for Century-- Central Park start is 5:30AM, according to TA's website.) This is the first URBAN CENTURY in the world. It is set up by TA to teach bikers how to navigate through the safest and most scenic roads in the city--through Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx and Queens. I missed it last year, but I won't this time. The ride is supported and marked. It would be great to have a group of us going-- riding together. I want to learn NYC bike paths and streets in other boroughs. I'M planning to do the Century--100 miles. If anyone would like to join me at a moderate pace, please RSVP and let me know. There are diffrent mileage options for those who don't want to make it an epic day.
